In addition, more than 1,000,000
North and South Vietnamese civilians
were killed during the war.

Britannica 2001 Standard Edition

¿How is it possible that 1,000,000 is the “in addition” in this sentence, when this number is greater than the total number of soldiers that died from both sides combined, which is NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND? . . . bad, baD, bAD, BAD … it is in the 10 christian commandments which the “west” claims to hold dear: thou shall NOT KILL"… this commandment implies as very well put by a woman in Adelaide during the NO WAR ON IRAQ demonstration last Sunday 16th of February 2003, “thou shall not collaterally damage” … in my humble view, the christian principles are only good for propaganda material in the mouths of the “most powerful country on EARTH” as its “leaders” seem to forget that killing is a sin … the other bit that these “leaders” need to be reminded of is that “it is harder for a rich person to cross the gates of heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle” . . .

i was born in a country where politics and political opinions were important and daily activity ... we were SO DEMOCRATIC that we even elected a Marxist president by voting ... first time in the world, and now that i know HOW this option ended i would have to say i don't trust it ... at the age of 12 my world was shattered and i lived my adolescence and early adulthood in a state of LOW INTENSITY WAR ...a war even if not intense is a war: thousands disappeared, were killed and many more were tortured; after the coup d'etat, TUESDAY MORNING 11TH OF SEPTEMBER 1973, promoted also by the christian democrats- the president of this party was convinced the army was going to ask him to take control of the government once it was “taken away” from the people and the people's parties) our country was “run” by a murderer who became the most obedient puppet of the chicago school of economics and his daddy milton friedmand ... money became our country's new religion ...

our brains were fed with sport events and soap operas galore and the official line was that torture was not practiced in chile and god didn’t like to participate in politics ... we fell deeply and truly into "cultural blackout" ... to the point that the few of the real chilean intellectuals that survived this horror believe that ever since our country hasn't produced another "real brain" ... it is hard to have clever people when the ones that were and the ones that were going to be were killed or expatriated ... some went mad, some committed suicide and some fell into a bottle ... we pay an expensive price for our dream and entrenched democratic ways ...

now, if a low intensity war can create so much pain and suffering, imagine what an intense war produces ... i feel sick watching footage of bombings because i can only see dismembered bodies and excruciating pain on the ground, which is NOT shown to us, this is why i KNOW it must be of incredible proportions ... i feel sick watching footage of bombings because i believe the EARTH is sacred and i can't believe the lack of understanding and compassion every time a bomb the size of a small car is launched against her surface ... it makes me sick to think that instead of trying an honest path to solve an economic crisis the "most powerful country" will go for the easy fix ... Enron collapsed and the war against Iraq became an OBSESSION ... rather than deal with corrupted board of directors and “extreme accountancy practices”, it is easier and cheaper to kill people in the THIRD WORLD ... after all it is third world and third only, it isn't the first world ... so we really don't count ... we are not humans ...

the "most powerful country" in the world did not learn anything from its 11th of september, which was the culmination of its own anticommunist policies ... propaganda says we are now fighting a battle between "good" and "evil" ... i ask, who defines whom is good and whom is evil? That's is the question ! ... in my opinion it shouldn't be answered by the ONLY country that has dropped atomic bombs against civilian populations, the country that destroyed another country because it had a president that could have become a role model and example for the rest of the world ... a country who has citizens that have never even heard the name of the rest of the countries in our shared world ... but if all goes according to the “bushes” plan this is what will be happening ... we surely go two steps forward in "his-tory" and three backward ... we need female energy around ... the more i live the more i desire life after death; as an old First Nation woman from canada said: i am not one to forget and when i die i will kick ass ! ! !
